RIKEN CEMSupra 2018

You are cordially invited to participate in CEMS International Symposium on Supramolecular Chemistry & Functional Materials 2018 (CEMSupra 2018) to be held in Tokyo, Japan on January 9-10, 2018.

RIKEN Center for Emergent Matter Science (CEMS) has been launched in April 2013, unifying the fundamentals of physics, chemistry, and electronics in RIKEN. As the fundamental principle of this center, we focus on ‘emergent’ phenomena, in which multiple elements, when assembled together, exhibit prominent properties that could not be predicted from the individual elements. The ultimate goal of CEMS is to develop radical energy solutions based on ‘emergent’ materials. To realize this mission, three divisions, majoring in physics, chemistry, and electronics, are to cooperate together closely and actively.

As a part of the activity of CEMS, we are organizing this symposium whose scope covers all aspects of supramolecular chemistry and its application to functional materials, including smart surfaces, energy conversion systems, and bio-related materials. The aim of this symposium is to provide a scientific forum to exchange and share experiences, ideas, and research results from the distinguished speakers, to discuss recent advances and the scientific challenges encountered in this field, to identify thae future research directions, to promote scientific exchange among the participants, and also to initiate some important collaborative research projects.

CEMSupra is now being established as the fragship symposium in this field. In the first CEMSupra 2013, we invited 15 eminent scientists and there were more than 320 turnout and 62 posters during the symposium. CEMSupra 2016 was even more successful with more than 400 turnout, 102 posters and 14 great invited speakers. We were very pleased to hear from the participants that they had a great time in the symposium. In CEMSupra 2018, we will invite 10 distinguished scientists from round the world to speak at the symposium. We hope you can enjoy the symposium by interacting with all the speakes and participants through the talks and the poster sessions.

理化学研究所　創発物性科学研究センター（CEMS）が主催します「超分子化学と機能性材料に関する国際シンポジウム2018」（CEMSupra 2018）が、2018年1月9-10日の日程で東京大学伊藤謝恩ホールにて開催されます。国際的に著名な１０名の研究者を招聘し、分子集合体科学、機能性ナノ材料、光エネルギー変換システム、有機電子デバイス、生体関連材料など、超分子化学と機能性材料に関わる研究分野のトップエンドの講演がなされます。参加費は無料ですので、ふるってご参加下さい。

CEMSは、物理－化学－エレクトロニクスの基礎を統合する理研の新しいセンターとして2013年4月に発足しました。センターの目標は「創発物性・機能の発現」にあります。「創発」とは、複数の構成要素からなる集合体が、個々の構成要素の性質の総和としては記述できない「質的に新しい性質」を発現することを意味します。CEMSの究極的な目標はこの創発物性をもつ材料をもとに、エネルギー問題の解決や環境に優しい機能素材の創成に関して基礎と応用をつなぐ画期的な方法論を提供することです。物理学・化学・エレクトロニクスの3分野の緊密な連携によって、このミッションの実現を目指しています。

本シンポジウムはCEMSの活動の一環として、超分子研究部門が中心となり企画しました。このシンポジウムを通じて、関連する科学分野に属する研究者が最新の研究成果やアイデアを分かち合い、議論することで、将来の確かな方向性をさぐり、共同研究を促進し、さらに前進する糸口をつかむことを期待しています。2013年の初回および2016年の第二回シンポジウムには数多くのご参加およびポスター発表をいただき、大成功のうちに開催することが出来ました。今回も学生を含めた多くの皆様に参加いただけるよう、参加費を無料としております。ホームページを通じての参加登録をお願いいたします。
